Prime Day 2026

Saving your dorm shopping
for Prime Day? Here are
10 ways to prepare now.

Prime Day Dates
June 23 – 26

I've been helping families navigate dorm shopping for years, and one thing I've learned is that Prime Day isn't about being the quickest shopper. It's about being prepared. That's why I always recommend using the days before Prime Day to make your list, compare prices, and prioritize the items that matter most. When the deals go live, you'll be ready!

Bookmark our Summer Deal Tracker — early deals are already live.

Your Prime Day prep list
  1. 1
    Getting Started

Research your dorm rules before you shop for a single thing.

If you haven't done this yet, NOW is the time. Every school has different rules about what's allowed — from extension cords to mini fridges to command strips. But what to research?

    Prime Membership

Make sure you're a Prime Member and know the trick for getting the first 6 months free.

You need to be a Prime member to access Prime Day deals. Amazon offers Prime at a steep discount for young adults, with the first 6 months completely free, followed by ½ price membership.

    Planning & Budgeting

Build your OWN shopping list and set a budget before the deals start.

Generic "dorm checklists" will lead you to buy things you don't need or aren't allowed to have and miss some important items, too. Start with your actual space, your actual rules, and your actual student. Then work with your student to establish a budget before the deals create interest or urgency that wasn't there yesterday.

    Early Deals

The deals have already started! Bookmark our Summer Deal Tracker — only the good deals on quality items make it to the Deal Tracker.

Prime Day is 4 days this year (June 23–26), but many deals launch in the week leading up to it. We only post high-quality, trusted dorm and apartment essentials that are ACTUALLY good deals — not artificially inflated just to be marked down to their usual price.

    Shipping

Don't have your dorm assignment yet? Choose the latest shipping date possible at checkout — here's why.

Selecting the slowest shipping option will extend the time you have to cancel your order AND extend your return date. If you're not in a hurry, this is a good option, and you may earn digital credits, too.

Flying to college? There are still smart ways to take advantage of Prime Day deals.

Shopping Prime Day when you're flying across the country takes a little more planning — but it's absolutely doable. Our long-distance guide covers the logistics and the best tips crowdsourced from 150k in our Dorm Shopping Recommendations & Deal Alerts Facebook group.
